Man Rescues Abandoned Baby in Plateau State Bush

A Nigerian man, Paul Kavwam, has rescued a baby boy who was found abandoned in a bush off a hiking trail in Plateau State. Kavwam shared the story in a Facebook post, explaining that he and his group were returning from a hike on Saturday, May 16, 2026, when they heard cries and discovered the baby wrapped in a towel.

Discovery and Rescue

After ensuring the child did not belong to any local women collecting firewood in the area, they took the infant to the Angwa Rukuba police station in Jos North. Authorities later transferred them to another station, where the baby was handed over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for onward transfer to the appropriate department.

Kavwam's Account

“Today we were out on a hike, on our way back, we heard the cry of a baby wrapped and kept in the bush,” Kavwam wrote. “We had to call some women who were looking for firewood in the bush and they said it's not their baby. I then took the baby and we took him to Angwa Rukuba police station and we were later transferred to the Nasarawa Police station where we handed the baby to the DPO of the station for onward transfer to the department where this child will be taken care of.”
