South African anti-migration leader plans to visit other African countries to promote accountability
SA anti-migration leader to visit other African countries

Phakel Umthakathi, the leader of a South African anti-migration group, has announced plans to travel to other African countries to encourage citizens to hold their leaders accountable and build better nations, thereby reducing the need for migration. He made the statement during a press conference on Thursday, July 2.

Call to Action for African Brothers

Addressing what he called his 'African brothers,' Phakel said, 'I am going to visit you, my brothers and sisters, in your countries to revive the spirit of Africa. You must fight for your country. If they kill you, they must kill all of you. You can't be scared of death.'

Background of Anti-Immigrant Campaign

Phakel led the South African anti-immigrant campaign that has resulted in many undocumented African nationals, including Nigerians, leaving the country. Over 800 Nigerians have fled South Africa following the anti-immigrant protests. Aggrieved South Africans accuse foreigners, including Nigerians, of taking job opportunities meant for them and introducing crime into their communities.
