Tinubu Sends Delegation to Oyo Over Abducted Pupils, Teachers

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday, May 31, dispatched a high-level delegation to Ogbomoso, Oyo State, following the abduction of pupils and teachers from three schools in the area. The delegation includes National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, Minister of Defence Christopher Musa, and Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila.

Abduction Incident

Suspected armed bandits invaded the local government on May 15 and abducted teachers and pupils from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School, all located within the same local government area.

Federal Government Response

During the visit, the delegation met with community leaders and relatives of the victims as efforts continue to secure the release of those still being held captive. The visit comes amid growing anxiety among residents and relatives, who have appealed to both the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government to ensure the safe return of the abductees.

Ongoing Rescue Efforts

Security agencies have yet to provide an official update on the whereabouts of the abductees, but rescue efforts are reportedly ongoing. The federal government has assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to resolve the situation.
