Woman, Two Children Surrender to Troops in Borno

A woman and her two children have surrendered to troops of the 192 Battalion (Motorised) under Operation HADIN KAI along the Gwoza–Limankara road in Borno State. The individuals, identified as Fadimatu Ibrahim, 30, and her children Abubakar Kumude, 12, and Ummi Ibrahim, 2, turned themselves in while troops were on picket duty at approximately 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Escape from Terrorist Enclave

According to security sources, preliminary investigations revealed that the trio escaped from the Kimbe terrorist enclave located within the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza Local Government Area. The escapees cited sustained military pressure and a lack of basic necessities within the enclave as the primary reasons for their flight.

“Preliminary findings suggest they fled due to sustained pressure on the terrorists’ hideouts and severe hardship within the camp,” the sources stated.
