According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the truck had no registration number. In a statement issued from Abeokuta, Akinbiyi confirmed that the crash involved four occupants: two males and two females, all of whom sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Cause and Response

Akinbiyi attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speed on the part of the truck driver. He noted that before TRACE officers arrived at the scene, good Samaritans had already transported the injured victims to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
