Motor Boy Killed in Ogun Truck Crash After Brake Failure
Motor Boy Dies in Ogun Truck Collision

A tragic road accident has claimed the life of a motor boy in Ogun State after a truck loaded with iron suffered a brake failure and collided with another vehicle.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The incident occurred on Tuesday along the Koro-Otun road within the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area. According to official reports, a Benz HIAB truck with registration number EKY 595 YR, which was carrying a load of iron, experienced a sudden and catastrophic brake failure.

This mechanical failure caused the driver to lose control of the heavy vehicle. The truck then rammed into a containerised truck that did not have a visible registration number. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the immediate death of the motor boy who was on the ill-fated Benz truck.

Official Confirmation and Aftermath

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the details of the crash in a statement to journalists. Akinbiyi stated that the accident involved two male individuals, with one fatality recorded.

"The accident was attributed to brake failure on the Benz truck, which caused the driver to lose control and crash into the containerised truck," Akinbiyi explained. He further revealed that the driver of the containerised truck fled the scene following the crash.

Scene Management and Traffic Flow

In the wake of the accident, emergency and traffic management procedures were swiftly implemented. The body of the deceased motor boy was released to his grieving family for burial rites.

To restore normalcy and ensure the free flow of traffic on the busy road, the accident vehicle was towed away from the scene. This action helped to clear the obstruction and prevent further incidents on the Koro-Otun route.

This fatal crash highlights the persistent dangers on Nigerian roads and underscores the critical importance of regular vehicle maintenance, particularly for heavy-duty trucks. Authorities continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
