The Oyo State Police Command has officially confirmed a devastating multiple motor and pedestrian accident that occurred at Soka Junction along the Ibadan–Lagos Expressway. The tragic incident took place on April 4, 2026, at approximately 10:10 PM, resulting in significant loss and injury.
Details of the Fatal Collision
According to police reports, two individuals lost their lives in the crash, while several others sustained injuries of varying severity. The accident involved multiple vehicles, including a Toyota Venza and a BMW car, both of which suffered severe damage. Preliminary investigations have identified the cause as a white HOWO truck with registration number Gombe GEM696XE, driven by Abdullahi Bashiru.
The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed, leading to a collision with other vehicles and unsuspecting pedestrians at the junction. This reckless behavior has been highlighted as a primary factor in the tragedy.
