NAF Intensifies Airstrikes on Terrorist Hideouts in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force has maintained its counter-terrorism air campaign in Borno State, executing precision strikes against suspected terrorist strongholds in the Sambisa Forest region as part of Operation Hadin Kai.

Precision Strikes on Terrorist Hideouts

According to an official statement, the air interdiction missions were carried out on 26 May 2026, based on credible intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance reports that identified terrorist hideouts and logistics bases in the Biramiri area of the Gezuwa general axis.

The Air Force reported that its aircraft targeted and destroyed key structures believed to serve as operational and support facilities for insurgents. Several fighters were reportedly neutralized during the operation.

Sustained Pressure on Insurgents

The statement emphasized that the ongoing bombardments are part of broader efforts to degrade terrorist capacity and restrict their movement across the Sambisa Forest, a known haven for insurgent groups in the North-East region.

Continuous air operations have placed significant pressure on terrorist ranks, causing confusion and disrupting their activities as they struggle to find safe locations, the military noted.

Coordinated Military Efforts

Military authorities confirmed that the operation is being conducted in collaboration with ground troops under Operation Hadin Kai and other security agencies. This coordinated approach aims to restore stability in the region.

The Nigerian Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining offensive pressure on terrorist networks while supporting broader national efforts to ensure lasting peace and security in the North-East.
