Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended a suspected terrorist spy and neutralized two insurgents in separate operations in Borno State, as part of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in the North-East region.
Arrest of Suspected Spy
On 25 April 2026 at approximately 21:40 hours, soldiers from the 198 Special Forces Battalion captured a suspected spy during surveillance operations along a parapet area within their operational zone. The suspect was observed conducting reconnaissance on troop positions before attempting to hide in nearby shrubs.
Troops on standing patrol quickly intervened and arrested the individual, who failed to provide identification and refused to cooperate during initial questioning. He is currently in custody for further interrogation to ascertain his motives and possible connections to hostile elements in the area.
Neutralization of Terrorists
In a separate incident, troops repelled an attempted infiltration by terrorists near Buratai District in Biu Local Government Area. The clash, which occurred late on 25 April 2026, resulted in the elimination of two insurgents. Security forces recovered a motorcycle and a cache of ammunition after the attackers fled in disarray.
Military authorities stated that the general security situation remains fluid but is under close monitoring. They reaffirmed that troop morale and operational effectiveness are high as counter-terrorism operations continue across the region.
