Trump Confronts Netanyahu in Heated Call Over Lebanon

United States President Donald Trump reportedly confronted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an expletive-laden phone call, warning that additional attacks on Lebanon could further isolate Israel internationally. The conversation occurred after Iran suspended peace talks over Israel's planned strikes on Beirut.

Trump's Explosive Remarks

American officials cited in reports described the call as intense, with Trump strongly criticizing Netanyahu. One official summarized Trump's remarks as: "I'm saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this." Another source claimed Trump shouted, "What the fuck are you doing?"

Trump also accused Netanyahu of ingratitude, referencing the Israeli leader's ongoing corruption trial and previous public comments where Trump suggested Netanyahu should receive a pardon.

Iran Suspends Talks

The reported exchange came shortly after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had suspended negotiations and indirect communications over Netanyahu's plans to continue attacks on Beirut's southern suburb, Dahieh. Initially responding to Iran's decision, Trump reportedly said: "I don't care if they're over, honestly... I really don't care. I couldn't care less."

Trump's Social Media Statements

Following the call, Trump announced on social media that no troops would be heading to Beirut and claimed forces already moving toward the area had been turned back. He also stated that he had a "very good call with Hezbollah" regarding a ceasefire arrangement. "They agreed that all shooting will stop — that Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel," Trump said.

Hezbollah's Response

Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah later stated that the group supported a full ceasefire across Lebanon, saying such an agreement should eventually lead to a complete Israeli troop withdrawal from Lebanese territory. Fadlallah also said Hezbollah rejected a limited truce proposal that would have prevented attacks on Beirut in exchange for halting Hezbollah operations in northern Israel.

Lebanon's Presidency Confirms Agreement

Lebanon's presidency later confirmed that Hezbollah had agreed to a US-backed proposal involving a mutual cessation of attacks across Lebanon.

Netanyahu's Stance

Netanyahu, however, maintained Israel's position. "I spoke with President Trump and told him that if Hezbollah does not cease attacking our cities and citizens, Israel will attack terror targets in Beirut. This stance of ours remains unchanged," Netanyahu wrote on X.

Trump's Further Comments

Trump later told NBC that Iran had not contacted him directly since suspending negotiations. "I think we've been talking too much if you want to know the truth. I think going silent would be very good, and that could be for a long time," he said. He added that silence did not necessarily mean military escalation, insisting sanctions and blockades remained tools available to Washington. Despite earlier comments, Trump later posted on social media that talks with Iran were continuing "at a rapid pace."
