A tragic road accident involving British-Nigerian boxing superstar Anthony Joshua on a major Nigerian highway has reignited discussions about road safety and brought an old spiritual warning back into the spotlight.
The Fatal Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious road accident on Monday, December 29, 2025, while travelling in Ogun State. The incident occurred in the Makun area, approximately 30 miles outside Lagos State. According to reports from Sky Sports, Joshua's vehicle, a black Lexus SUV, collided with a stationary lorry parked by the side of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) provided preliminary findings on the crash. Their investigation indicated that the Lexus was suspected of travelling beyond the legal speed limit. The driver lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre, leading to the collision with the parked truck. The FRSC cited excessive speed and wrongful overtaking as the primary causes, noting these are leading factors in fatal crashes on Nigerian roads.
Tragically, the accident claimed the lives of two of Joshua's close associates: Sina Ghami and Latif "Latz" Ayodele. A total of five adult males were in the vehicle. While two persons died and one was injured, two others, including Anthony Joshua, escaped unharmed. The former heavyweight world champion was rescued alive and sustained only minor injuries and cuts. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.
Ghanaian Prophet's Old Prediction Trends Online
In the wake of the accident, a video from October 31, 2025, featuring popular Ghanaian seer Karma President has resurfaced and gone viral on social media platforms like TikTok. In the clip, the prophet made a general statement that has now gained specific and eerie relevance.
While he did not mention Anthony Joshua or any specific individual by name, Karma President declared, "Nigeria is trending in the spiritual world because of bad crash." This vague prophecy, made nearly two months before Joshua's accident, has captured public imagination. Fans and social media users are now linking the spiritual warning directly to the boxer's crash, causing a significant stir online.
Official Reactions and Ongoing Concerns
The sporting community in Nigeria has been shaken by the event. The leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) paid a visit to Anthony Joshua while he was in the hospital. The Director General of the NSC, Bukola Olopade, described the accident as "tragic and saddening."
Olopade expressed the commission's condolences, stating, "On behalf of the National Sports Commission and the entire Nigerian sports family, I express my heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this unfortunate accident. We thank God for the life of Anthony Joshua. Our thoughts and prayers are with him as he recovers."
This incident has also refocused attention on the perennial dangers of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, long considered one of the busiest and most deadly highways in Nigeria. The crash underscores the critical and ongoing issues of speeding, reckless driving, and poor vehicle parking on the corridor, which continue to claim lives.
