Anthony Joshua Prays with Quran Before Fatal Crash

A deeply personal and spiritual moment involving world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has captured global attention online. A viral video shows the athlete in a rare display of faith, praying fervently inside his car while listening to the Holy Quran.

Joshua's Emotional Plea to God

The clip, originally shared by Instagram user Khaled Beydoun, presents a vulnerable side of the champion seldom seen by the public. Seated in his vehicle, Joshua is heard speaking directly to God, reflecting on his life's journey and his aspirations for the future.

"I have been praying to God to let me shine brighter again and conquer the world once more," Joshua says in the video. "I know I can do it, but without Him, I am nothing. I want God to put His hands on my chest and my soul, and make my star shine brighter again."

He further elaborates on his spiritual quest, asking for divine guidance to elevate himself. "I have also been praying to be fed with things that will enhance me, lift me to a higher frequency, and help my light shine even brighter. I want Him to remove the veil in front of me so that I can see clearly," the boxer adds.

Tragic Context: The Fatal Accident

The poignant video emerged with heartbreaking timing, circulating widely just days after Joshua was involved in a severe road accident. The incident occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Makun, Ogun State.

Eyewitness accounts indicate the crash happened around 11 a.m. close to the Danco Filling Station, before the Sagamu Interchange. Joshua's Mercedes G-Wagon reportedly collided with a stationary truck.

Tragically, two of Joshua's closest associates, who were seated on the side of the vehicle that impacted the truck, lost their lives at the scene. The deceased were identified as Latif (popularly known as Latz), his personal trainer, and Sina, his strength and conditioning coach. Anthony Joshua, who was in the back seat, survived and was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.

Fan Reactions and Spiritual Support

The viral clip has sparked an outpouring of emotional and supportive reactions from fans and followers across social media platforms. Many have connected Joshua's public display of faith with the subsequent tragedy.

User @hinajellybean commented: "The dawah of his brothers was accepted and Allah took them when he was pleased with them. May they both obtain the highest rank of Jannah..."

Others, like @khaledbeydoun who posted the video, expressed sympathy: "A devastating way to end 2025, inshallah, God provided him with strength to get through these hard times."

The moment also led to discussions about Joshua's faith journey. Some users noted the possible influence of his late friend and devout Muslim, Latif. Comments ranged from prayers for his guidance, such as from @halalfitmen who said, "May God guide him to Islam. Ameen," to expressions of solidarity with his search for clarity and strength.

This intimate glimpse into Anthony Joshua's spiritual life, juxtaposed with the devastating loss of his friends, paints a picture of an athlete grappling with profound personal challenges while seeking a higher purpose and strength beyond the boxing ring.
