Opta's supercomputer has predicted Morocco's final Group C match against Haiti at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, giving the Atlas Lions an 81% chance of victory. The game, scheduled for June 25, will determine whether Morocco finishes atop the group ahead of Brazil.
Morocco currently sit second in Group C with four points, level with five-time champions Brazil but trailing on goal difference. The North Africans opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Brazil, followed by a 1-0 win over Scotland. Ismael Saibari has scored both of Morocco's goals in the tournament.
Supercomputer Predicts Dominant Moroccan Victory
According to The Analyst, Opta's supercomputer ran 25,000 pre-game simulations, revealing a clear favorite. Morocco has an 81% probability of winning, while a draw is predicted at 12.3%. Haiti's chance of an upset stands at just 6.7%.
The two sides have never met before in any international fixture, either friendly or competitive, leaving little historical data to inform the prediction beyond current form and motivation.
Morocco will finish top of Group C if they beat Haiti and Scotland avoid defeat against Brazil in the other match. The Atlas Lions aim to improve on their historic fourth-place finish in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Coach Ouahbi Targets First Place
Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi confirmed his intention to field a strong team against Haiti, prioritizing a win to secure first place in the group. Despite already qualifying for the knockout stage, Ouahbi emphasized the importance of finishing top.
“My preference is to beat Haiti and finish ahead of Brazil in the group. There is talk we might play next against the Netherlands, but it could also be Japan, but even then France or Argentina, but it is not anything we are taking into consideration,” Ouahbi told FIFA.
“Probably, we are already qualified, but we still want to beat Haiti, and so we plan to field our best possible team in the game. We can use the same starting line-up, but there are still some things we are thinking about before deciding.”
CAF President Praises Morocco
Legit.ng previously reported that CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe sent a message to Morocco after their first win at the 2026 World Cup, commending the Atlas Lions for representing Africa on the global stage.
Morocco's strong performance has drawn attention, with the team aiming to continue their impressive run. The match against Haiti will be crucial in determining their path in the knockout stages, as they seek to build on their 2022 semi-final appearance.
