Antonio Conte has confirmed he will leave Napoli at the end of the current season, just 12 months after guiding the club to the Serie A championship. The Italian coach, who previously managed Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, took over Napoli in 2024 and immediately delivered the club's fourth top-flight title in its history.
Second-Place Finish and Final Match
This season, however, Napoli finished as runners-up, trailing champions Inter Milan by 11 points. Conte's departure was announced shortly after Napoli's 1-0 victory over Udinese on the final day of the Serie A campaign, which concluded both the season and his tenure.
Reasons for Leaving
Speaking after the match, Conte was candid about his decision, explaining that he felt the project had reached its natural end. "A month ago, I called the president asking for nothing, and he didn't tell me anything either. I told him I felt our project was coming to an end and that there had been no change in plans," Conte stated. He added, "I made this decision because I failed at one thing in Naples: I couldn't bring unity to the environment, and it's difficult to compete without that."
National Team Speculation
When asked if he could become the new manager of the Italian national team, Conte responded, "My advice would be to hire Pep Guardiola."
Conte's Napoli Legacy
During his time at Napoli, Conte secured two trophies: the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana. He ends his spell with 52 wins from 91 matches in charge.
