Lagos is set to capture the global spotlight as Educational Basketball collaborates with the iconic Harlem Globetrotters for a two-day showcase event scheduled for April 3 and 4, 2026. The exhibition will take place at the Federal Palace Hotel on Victoria Island, with Amazon Prime Video filming the proceedings to broadcast Lagos's burgeoning basketball talent to an international audience.
Event Highlights and Schedule
Day One of the event will kick off with the Harlem Globetrotters Kids Camp, designed to engage young athletes in fun, skill-building activities. Additionally, a basketball robotics and artificial intelligence clinic will be hosted by Lab Zero from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This clinic aims to educate students on how AI technologies are leveraged to optimize athletic performance in sports, blending education with practical applications.
Day Two commences at 12 noon with a series of showcase games, featuring teams such as Tunez Squad, sponsored by DJ Tunez, and Team Mezie, supported by NBA player Chimezie Metu. The evening will escalate with a highly anticipated Nigeria versus Ghana rivalry match at 7:00 p.m., followed by a performance by the Harlem Globetrotters at 8:00 p.m. Supported by Nike, attendance for the event is free, though prior registration is mandatory for all participants.
