Prophet Who Predicted Nigeria's 4-2 AFCON Loss to Morocco Blames Davido
Prophet Blames Davido for Nigeria's AFCON Loss to Morocco

A Nigerian prophet who accurately foretold the outcome of the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash between Nigeria and Morocco has sparked a social media storm. The man, identified as Abiri Elijah on Facebook, claimed the Super Eagles' defeat could have been averted if music superstar Davido had heeded his call for prayer.

The Prophecy and the Missed Call

Following the match played on January 16, 2026, Prophet Abiri Elijah took to social media to reiterate a warning he had issued before the game. He stated that God had revealed to him that Morocco would defeat Nigeria with a 4-2 scoreline in the AFCON 2025 semi-finals.

However, Elijah asserted that this divined outcome was not fixed. He claimed he possessed the grace to alter the result in Nigeria's favour, contingent on one simple action: a telephone call from award-winning musician Davido. According to the prophet, he had requested this call for prayers, but it never came.

Post-Match Statement and Claims of Divine Intervention

In a detailed post-match statement shared on his Facebook page, Elijah congratulated both teams while placing the blame for Nigeria's exit squarely on the missed connection. "God showed me their defeat against Morocco... which I had the Grace to change it in their favor, through just a call from Davido who failed to reach out to me for prayers as requested," he wrote.

He further bolstered his credibility by referencing a previous successful intervention, claiming he changed the outcome of a match between Cameroon and South Africa to favour the Indomitable Lions. Elijah ended his message with a broader offer, inviting anyone with unfavourable prophecies or medical reports to contact him for a divine turnaround.

Social Media Erupts with Mixed Reactions

The prophet's post on the X app triggered a flood of reactions from Nigerians, with many expressing skepticism and amusement. User Dag dismissed the prediction as a lucky guess, challenging Elijah to predict the third-place and final matches. Mola argued that Morocco's win was widely anticipated and questioned the use of God's name for football predictions.

Others, like Gods time, issued a cautionary warning about playing with divine matters, while Peter's Diary humorously suggested the prophet was under the influence and should have directly asked Davido for money instead.

This incident is not Elijah's first foray into football prophecy. Legit.ng previously reported that he had also correctly predicted Nigeria's victory in a quarter-final match against Algeria earlier in the tournament.
