The club emphasized that the tour includes a series of friendly matches in Accra, designed not only as competitive exercises but also as platforms to enhance sporting relationships between Nigeria and Ghana. According to the club, these matches aim to test skills against Ghanaian opposition while promoting sportsmanship and cultural exchange.
A squad of talented players, featuring both former and current national team members, will depart from Lagos today with high expectations. The club stated, "These matches were structured as friendly internationals, allowing both sides to experiment tactically."
Tour Schedule and Activities
The detailed itinerary for the tour includes:

Building on Past Success and Future Aspirations
Tour Captain Tayo Atolegbe highlighted that this tour follows a similar successful trip to Kenya last year, which marked the club's inaugural international outing. He explained that the club's vision is to emulate the Marylebone Cricket Club, a renowned touring side and the world's oldest cricket club.
Atolegbe, who also serves as the South West representative on the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) board, stressed that spreading cricket within and beyond Nigeria has been a core objective since the club's founding in 2024. He noted that the previous visit to Kenya yielded competitive and successful results, reinforcing this commitment.
Club Composition and Global Reach
The Lagos Cricket Club is primarily a touring side composed of members from various countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada, among others. This diverse membership enhances its ability to promote cricket internationally and foster cross-cultural connections through the sport.
