FNSB Champions Inclusion and Unity Through Sports for Visually Impaired
The Federal Nigeria Society for the Blind (FNSB) has strongly reaffirmed its commitment to fostering inclusion, unity, and empowerment for individuals with visual impairment. This declaration was made during the 28th annual sports day held at the Vocational Training Centre located at Yaba College of Technology in Lagos. The vibrant event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including trainees, partners, and well-wishers, in a celebration that highlighted resilience and ability.
Under the theme 'YES! WE CAN,' the foundation urged society to better assimilate visually impaired persons, emphasizing their significant contributions to the community. Mrs Ayopeju Njideaka, Chairman of the Board of Governors, described the theme as more than just a slogan. She called it "a declaration of courage, resilience, and the boundless potential that resides within every trainee." Njideaka stressed that ability is not defined by sight but by vision, determination, and strength of character.
Leadership Calls for Collaboration and Support
Mrs Njideaka commended the centre's management, staff, and organizing committee for maintaining an inclusive environment that promotes not only vocational excellence but also physical and social well-being. Additionally, Mrs Arit Tunde-Imoyo, Chairman of the Executive Council, who officially declared the games open, called for sustained collaboration among stakeholders. She emphasized the need to deepen inclusion and expand opportunities for persons living with visual impairment.
Participants were praised for their courage, enthusiasm, and determination throughout the event. Mrs Tunde-Imoyo added, "Victory lies not only in winning but in the courage to participate and the resolve to give one's best." This sentiment resonated with the spirit of the day, focusing on effort and participation over mere competition.
