A new digital platform called Shakarra has officially launched, promising to transform how Nigerians access and purchase goods from international retailers. The debut is strategically timed to coincide with the peak Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping period, offering consumers a direct link to massive discounts from major global stores.
Solving Cross-Border Shopping Challenges
Shakarra was developed specifically to address the common frustrations Nigerian shoppers face when buying from abroad. These include restrictive card and payment limits, unpredictable exchange rates, unreliable shipping routes, packages getting lost, and unexpected extra fees. The platform aims to eliminate these hurdles by providing a consolidated service where users can shop from stores like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and Costco using a transparent Naira pricing system.
The process is designed for simplicity: customers find products on their preferred international site, use Shakarra to process the order, pay in Naira, and have their items delivered directly to their doorstep in Nigeria. The service includes real-time tracking to provide peace of mind throughout the delivery journey.
A Strategic Launch for Peak Shopping Season
Uche Ofoma, a co-founder of Shakarra, explained that the launch timing was deliberate. "Launching close to Black Friday was intentional," Ofoma stated. "This is when Nigerians want the most access to genuine deals, electronics, beauty essentials, home items, fashion, gadgets, and we are stepping in to make the process smoother, safer, and fully accessible in Naira."
This means Nigerian shoppers can now participate in major sales events like Cyber Monday without being hindered by international payment cards or worrying about complex logistics. Whether it's a discounted laptop, a makeup collection, or new wardrobe essentials, the platform facilitates the entire transaction.
Mobile App Available for Black Friday Rush
To handle the anticipated surge in orders during the Black Friday period, Shakarra has released its mobile application on the Google Play Store. The app features faster order submission, easy link upload from other shopping sites, a favorites saving function, push notifications, and an improved checkout process. An iOS version is reported to be coming soon.
Shakarra describes itself as an e-commerce platform that partners with verified US buyers and secure logistics networks to offer a reliable cross-border shopping solution. The company is active on major social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, and Facebook under the handle @shopshakarra or similar variations.
The launch positions Shakarra as a potential game-changer in Nigeria's e-commerce landscape, especially for consumers seeking direct access to global markets with local currency convenience and reliable delivery.
