Ex-Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun Unveils Nidacity Platform to Empower Nigerian Entrepreneurs
Former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has officially launched a new initiative called Nidacity, a private sector educational media platform designed to support Nigeria's entrepreneurs. The platform, which went live at www.nidacity.com, aims to equip young and female founders with the practical education, mentorship, and timely business intelligence necessary to build resilient and thriving businesses.
Tackling Nigeria's High Startup Failure Rate
Adeosun, collaborating with a group of entrepreneurs and professionals, established Nidacity to address Nigeria's alarming 95 per cent startup failure rate. She emphasized that the launch was driven by the significant human cost of these failures, which impact communities across the country. According to Adeosun, Nigerian entrepreneurs are already performing exceptionally by creating the majority of jobs from the ground up, often with minimal support.
The "Many Roads" Survey: A Landmark Initiative
The first major project under Nidacity is the "Many Roads" Survey, described as a landmark digital survey and living archive of Nigerian enterprise history. This initiative will serve as the evidentiary foundation for Nidacity's broader mission: to strengthen business education, support enterprise development, and meaningfully reduce the rate of startup failure across Nigeria. Adeosun highlighted that this survey will provide crucial insights into the roots of Nigerian enterprise, helping to inform future strategies and resources for entrepreneurs.
By focusing on practical tools and community-driven support, Nidacity seeks to transform the entrepreneurial landscape in Nigeria, fostering a more sustainable and successful business environment for all.
