271 Evacuated Nigerians Arrive Lagos from South Africa

Another batch of 271 Nigerians evacuated from South Africa arrived in Lagos on Tuesday, June 30, as the Federal Government continues its efforts to assist citizens voluntarily returning home amid rising anti-immigration tensions in South Africa.

The Air Peace flight departed Johannesburg at approximately 5 a.m. local time and landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos shortly before 11 a.m. local time.

Officials Receive Returnees

Officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) were present at the airport to receive the returnees and facilitate their processing.
