Nigeria Targets $500 Million Investment as ACCI Unveils Maiden AGROMEQA Expo 2026

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has officially announced the inaugural AGROMEQA Expo 2026, a landmark agricultural investment and technology event projected to attract approximately $500 million in commitments to Nigeria's agro-industrial sector. This significant revelation was made during a press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, where ACCI President Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, was represented by the 2nd Deputy President, Aliyu Idi Hong.

Event Details and Strategic Objectives

Scheduled for June 10 to 11, 2026, at the Prince Adetokunbo Kayode Trade and Convention Centre, the expo is organized in collaboration with JMT Plus Farms and Agro-Allied and the Agricultural Trade Group. Under the theme "Technology and Investment for Agro-Export," AGROMEQA Expo 2026 aims to serve as a strategic platform to accelerate agricultural mechanization, enhance export standards, and unlock investment opportunities across Nigeria's agribusiness value chain. The event will convene key stakeholders, including policymakers, agribusiness investors, farmers, financial institutions, and development partners.

High-Profile Participation and Expected Impact

Vice President Kashim Shettima is anticipated to officially declare the expo open, while Jani Ibrahim, President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture, will deliver a keynote address on the critical role of private capital in driving agricultural exports. With an estimated 470 to 500 exhibitors, the expo will feature exhibitions of modern farming technologies such as mechanized equipment, irrigation systems, precision tools, and climate-smart solutions. Additionally, plenary sessions, technical discussions, and business-to-business engagements are designed to foster partnerships, secure investment deals, and facilitate technology transfer.

Focus on Innovation and Youth Engagement

A dedicated agro-processing and packaging segment will highlight opportunities for local value addition, while a live demonstration arena will showcase advanced farming solutions. To encourage youth participation in agritech innovation, a schools' agricultural competition will be included. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to address sectoral challenges, including the persistent farmer-herder disputes in parts of Nigeria, by promoting structured, mechanized, and modern farming systems that reduce land pressure and encourage sustainable practices.

Alignment with National Priorities

AGROMEQA Expo 2026 supports Nigeria's priorities on food security, job creation, and economic diversification. Increased access to mechanized farming is expected to boost productivity, support smallholder farmers, and strengthen rural economies. The expo is projected to position Nigeria as a key player in agro-export across Africa, fostering long-term growth through investment mobilization, innovation, and stronger market linkages. Stakeholders across public and private sectors are encouraged to participate, with media coverage expected to enhance awareness and engagement.
