Mokoena, who holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Johannesburg, stated that standing in front of the equipment at the Dangote Refinery reminded her why she chose chemical engineering. She noted a significant difference between studying a process remotely and witnessing it in operation in person. "There's a big difference between studying a process, supporting it remotely, and seeing it operating in person. Every site visit brings a deeper understanding that simply can't be gained from a screen," she wrote.

Describing the Dangote Refinery as one of the largest in the world, Mokoena emphasized the incredible experience of witnessing the scale, complexity, and engineering behind the facility.
