The administration of Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has completed over 426.75 kilometers of road projects since taking office in May 2023, the state government has announced. The projects span the three senatorial districts and include new roads, rehabilitation, dual carriageways, and security roads.
Breakdown of road projects
According to the state Commissioner for Works, Pius Ankpor, the total road network covers 206.6 kilometers of new roads, 102.55 kilometers of rehabilitated roads, 155 kilometers of dual carriageways, 112.29 kilometers of network roads, and 32.1 kilometers of security and institutional roads. Ankpor disclosed this during a chat with The Guardian in Calabar, attributing the achievements to prudent financial management, accountability, and a deliberate commitment to restoring the dignity and welfare of the people.
Delta State governor inaugurates 18km roads
In a related development, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori inaugurated three road projects totaling about 18 kilometers in Ndokwa West Local Council Area. The projects include the 4.5-kilometer Obi-Ibabu/Ibabu Road in Onicha-Ukwuani, phase one of the 5-kilometer Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road, and the 8.4-kilometer Etua-Ukpo/Etua-Etiti/Etua-Oliogo Road. Speaking at the ceremony in Utagba-Uno, Oborevwori said the roads are critical infrastructure that will boost trade, commerce, and rural development across the Ndokwa Nation. He also reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
