Asaba Airport Company (AAC), the operator of Asaba International Airport, has modernized its operations by deploying an automated parking and access control system. This initiative aims to enhance efficiency, improve traffic management, and boost revenue generation for the airport.
Partnership with Interswitch
The company is partnering with Interswitch to deploy the smart parking solution. According to AAC, the system is a fully automated Parking Management Platform (PMP) designed to streamline vehicular movement and eliminate inefficiencies associated with manual parking systems.
Benefits of the System
The Managing Director of Asaba Airport Company, Christophe Penninck, told journalists that the system enables real-time monitoring of vehicles, faster processing at entry and exit points, and improved traffic flow within the airport premises. He noted that the deployment is a key improvement as passenger numbers and vehicular traffic continue to rise.
Penninck added that the new system enhances service delivery and strengthens revenue generation by eliminating revenue leakages and ensuring accurate tracking of parking income. The system also supports cashless payment options, aligning with global best practices and reducing reliance on physical cash transactions, which have been associated with inefficiencies and accountability challenges in public infrastructure.
Interswitch's Perspective
Vice President of Transport Ecosystem at Interswitch, Nnenna Ajanwachuku, commented on the partnership, stating that it reflects the company’s commitment to deploying technology that drives efficiency, transparency, and seamless user experiences across critical sectors. He explained that with the new platform, Interswitch is not only addressing operational challenges but also enabling smarter infrastructure that supports revenue growth and long-term sustainability.
