Nigerian Law Student Achieves Academic Excellence at University of Ibadan

A young Nigerian man, Jesutoni Aderibigbe, has made a remarkable entry into the history books of the University of Ibadan's law faculty by graduating with a first-class degree. This achievement comes after he faced significant challenges, including sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) three times before gaining admission.

Overcoming Admission Hurdles and Academic Journey

Celebrating his graduation on X, formerly known as Twitter, Aderibigbe shared his inspiring story. He disclosed that he initially gained admission to the University of Ibadan's law program but also wrote the UTME a third time to secure a spot at IfeLaw. After resuming at IfeLaw following his first year at UI, he transferred back to UI, where he maintained a perfect CGPA session. His perseverance paid off as he graduated among the top students in the class of 2025.

Balancing Law Studies with Tech Pursuits

In addition to his legal studies, Aderibigbe began building software in his second year at the university, priding himself as a mobile engineer who writes code and solves bugs. He eventually became the Campus Organizer for Google Developer Groups at UI in his fourth year, all while achieving nearly all A grades in his law courses. He cited exemplary individuals like @monnarene and @dammy_alimi as inspirations, noting how they managed significant projects as students while still graduating with first-class honors.

This story highlights a broader trend at UI, where 58 law students graduated with first-class degrees in the same year, reflecting a culture of discipline and academic effort. Although the university management has not issued an official statement, former vice chancellor Idowu Olayinka confirmed the results, as reported by Premium Times.

Aderibigbe's journey serves as a testament to resilience and multitasking, inspiring many Nigerian youths to pursue their dreams despite obstacles.
