Ondo Government Sanctions Students for Indiscipline After Final Exams
The Ondo State Government has directed the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) body to withhold the results and testimonials of 17 students following their involvement in disorderly conduct after completing their final examinations. The decision was announced in a statement released by the state Ministry of Education, which cited viral videos circulating on social media platforms as evidence of the students' actions.
Three Schools in Akure Identified in Viral Videos
The affected students were captured in videos tearing their school uniforms and chanting strange slogans immediately after finishing their last examination paper. The government described this behavior as a serious violation of the core values of the state's educational system. The students are from Oyemekun Grammar School, Aquinas Secondary School, and CAC Grammar School, all located in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
According to the Ministry, the names of the 17 identified students will be entered into a disciplinary "black book" at their respective schools. The government emphasized that such acts of indiscipline would not be tolerated, as they undermine the integrity of the educational system.
Government Warns Against Future Misconduct
The statement further warned other students against engaging in similar behavior, noting that the state is committed to instilling discipline and moral values in its youth. The Ministry of Education urged parents and guardians to monitor their children's conduct and ensure they adhere to school regulations. The withheld results will remain under review pending further disciplinary actions.
