MultiChoice has expanded its sports content offerings for Nigerian subscribers of DStv and GOtv with the introduction of SportyTV, a dedicated 24-hour sports channel now available on selected packages. The channel, which debuted on June 10, 2026, provides live coverage of football, basketball, combat sports, and a range of other sporting events, alongside sports news, analysis, and highlights.
SportyTV Availability and Packages
SportyTV is accessible on DStv channel 236 for customers subscribed to the DStv Yanga package, and on GOtv channel 58 for GOtv Jolli subscribers. The channel is also available in other African markets, including Kenya and Ghana, as part of MultiChoice's strategy to broaden access to premium sports content across the continent.
Partnership with CANAL+ and Sporty Group
The launch of SportyTV is the result of a partnership between MultiChoice, CANAL+, and Sporty Group. David Mignot, CEO of CANAL+ Africa, stated: “We are pleased to expand the offering to subscribers by partnering with SportyTV. This new addition further demonstrates our commitment to making top sports content more accessible across the continent. SportyTV’s variety of sporting events is available at an attractive price, making it a valuable asset to DStv Access and GOtv Value in Africa.”
Sudeep Ramnani, Founder and CEO of Sporty Group, added: “Sporty Group is excited to partner with CANAL+ to bring SportyTV to a wide African audience, delivering more choice and flexibility in sports content viewing to households across the continent. Our mission is to bring sports closer to everyone.”
Content Lineup: Football, Basketball, and More
SportyTV's programming includes a robust football lineup featuring major leagues and cups such as the English Premier League, Carabao Cup, EFL Championship, Women's FA Cup, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and the Spanish Super Cup. Additionally, South American competitions like Copa Libertadores, the Argentina League, and Brazil's Serie A are part of the offering. The channel also broadcasts NBA basketball, combat sports, and various international sporting events.
Subscribers can also access dedicated club channels including Real Madrid TV, Arsenal TV, Chelsea TV, and Manchester City TV, along with league broadcasts from Greece and Saudi Arabia. This extensive lineup is designed to complement SuperSport's existing coverage, providing fans with more live matches and supporting content.
Enhancing SuperSport's Coverage
Rendani Ramovha, Director of Sport Content for English and Portuguese-speaking Africa at CANAL+, noted that the partnership will allow football fans to enjoy major leagues through SportyTV, enhancing the overall sports viewing experience on DStv and GOtv.
Elias Gallego, VP of Business Development, Marketing and Media at Sporty Group, commented: “With SportyTV, we can reach more sports enthusiasts on DStv and GOtv across the continent, enriching their viewing experience with a wide range of quality sports programming.”
DStv Subscription Prices Remain Unchanged in 2026
In a related development, MultiChoice has confirmed that DStv subscription prices will remain unchanged in 2026, deviating from its usual annual price adjustments. This move is part of the company's efforts to win back lost subscribers amid increasing competition from streaming services. The pricing freeze is a key element of a wider turnaround strategy implemented following CANAL+'s acquisition of MultiChoice in late 2025.
