Nollywood actress and former Big Brother Naija contestant Bisola Aiyeola has opened up about the father of her daughter, Layla, sharing the heartbreaking story of his passing in 2018. The movie star appeared on Ife Agoro's podcast, where she revealed the emotional details for the first time.
Bisola Recalls the Loss
According to Bisola, her daughter's father had been ill and was admitted to the hospital. She explained that she, her mother, and her sister had visited him, and the medical team had given them a date for his discharge. However, his condition suddenly worsened, leading to his death. She described the experience as deeply heartbreaking, noting that she had to gather immense courage to inform her daughter about his passing.
Bisola shared that she had planned to do something special for him but kept postponing it. She had spoken with him on the phone, and he sounded better, even confirming the expected discharge date. A few days later, someone used his phone to call her from the hospital, informing her that he had passed away. She immediately called her sister and mother, and they all broke down in tears over the loss.
Informing Her Daughter
In the podcast, Bisola noted that Layla was only eight years old when her father died in August 2018. She emphasized that he was not an absentee father and consistently checked on his daughter whenever possible. After grieving with her family, she called her daughter to break the sad news, describing it as a very painful moment.
Bisola rarely speaks about her daughter's father, but in a previous interview after receiving the Trailblazer Award at the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA), she expressed regret that he was not alive to witness her success in the movie industry.
In her words: "It was a heartbreaking experience. He died in August 2018. He was sick and had been on admission in the hospital. My mother and sister went to visit him on a Sunday, and he died on Friday. We had even spoken over the phone, and he was sounding better and said he would be discharged on Friday. Someone later called me on his phone from the hospital and said he was no more."
