Celebrity Entrepreneur Blord Aligns with Sowore's Revolutionary Movement

Prominent businessman and social media personality Blord has formally announced his membership in activist Omoyele Sowore's Revolution Now movement. This significant development occurred just hours after Blord secured his release from Kuje prison, marking a notable shift in his public persona from luxury entrepreneur to social activist.

A Personal Visit of Gratitude in Abuja

Blord disclosed this political alignment on Tuesday following a courtesy visit to Sowore's office in Nigeria's capital city. During their meeting, Blord expressed profound appreciation for what he described as the activist's decisive intervention during his recent detention period. He revealed that despite never having met Sowore previously, he felt compelled to personally thank him immediately after regaining freedom.

"I came to see Omoyele Sowore in respect of my matter to appreciate him. As a matter of fact, I have never met Sowore in my life, but when he heard that I was being intimidated, he had to step in," Blord stated during the visit.

Sowore's Crucial Intervention in Legal Proceedings

The businessman provided specific details about how Sowore's involvement impacted his legal situation. Blord claimed that without this intervention, he would have remained incarcerated significantly longer. His bail hearing was originally scheduled for April 27, but Sowore's advocacy reportedly forced the court to move the date forward substantially.

"As a matter of fact, I was still supposed to be in Kuje. My bail hearing was set for April 27, but Sowore said that over his dead body will that happen, and he made sure the date was pushed forward," Blord emphasized, highlighting the activist's determination.

Symbolic Gesture and Immediate Priorities

Despite having urgent travel plans to Anambra state where his community awaited him, Blord prioritized meeting Sowore first. "I am out of prison, and I am on my way to Anambra, my people are waiting for me. But I said even if I'm going to miss my flight, I must see Sowore to say thank you," he explained.

The meeting included a symbolic exchange where Sowore presented Blord with a beret, which the businessman described as representing his new affiliation. "He gave me a gift (a beret) and I am among the revolution team," Blord confirmed, signaling his transition into political activism.

Background of Blord's Incarceration and Release

Blord was released from Kuje prison on Monday, April 20, after approximately twenty days in custody. His freedom came following a bail grant from the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he faced charges including:

  • Criminal conspiracy
  • Impersonation allegations
  • Unauthorized use of social media activist VDM's image

Despite the court's bail approval, Blord did not immediately regain freedom due to procedural requirements. One specific condition mandated the submission of his international passport, which was reportedly located in Enugu State rather than Abuja. This geographical complication delayed retrieval efforts by his legal team, prolonging his detention beyond the initial court decision.

Contrasting Narrative with VDM's Situation

The case involving Blord has unfolded alongside separate developments concerning social media activist VDM, who was allegedly involved in the charges against Blord. In a contrasting narrative, VDM recently shared reflections on his own experiences with law enforcement, including claims about his accounts being frozen while in EFCC custody.

VDM admitted in social media posts that he had been "a mumu for giving people money to learn a trade," though this confession received mixed reactions from followers. Some critics accused him of playing the "pity card" while others questioned his motivations and actions during this period.

This complex situation highlights the intersecting worlds of Nigerian celebrity culture, social media influence, and political activism, with Blord's alignment with Sowore's movement representing a significant development in this ongoing narrative.
