CDQ: Hard to Succeed in Music Without Gang Affiliation

Nigerian rapper CDQ has stirred controversy with his claim that belonging to a gang or cult group is essential for success in the music industry. In a recent interview with content creator JBrandy, the 'Nowo Soke' singer lamented that artists who do not align with any such group face significant challenges in advancing their careers.

CDQ's Statement on Industry Challenges

During the interview, CDQ stated, 'You have to belong to a particular gang or cult before anybody could help you in the music industry.' He further explained that artists who achieve success without such affiliations are simply lucky. 'So, if you don't belong to this particular gang, or this particular group, or this particular cult or whatever, you might probably spend a lot and not see anything in return,' he added.

Call for Change

CDQ urged record label executives and other industry stakeholders to address this trend. He emphasized that the music scene has become a 'game of belonging to a particular calculs, gang or cult before they could accept you into the industry.' He noted that those who manage to succeed independently should be grateful.
