Ifeyinwa Alleges Stella Maris Sold All Properties
Ifeyinwa, the first wife of late Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has broken her silence amid the ongoing family saga. In an interview with Darkoracle, she alleged that Stella Maris, the actor's last wife, sold all his properties across three states—Lagos, Enugu, and Asaba—and did not share any proceeds with his children. She also claimed Stella abandoned her to mourn the actor alone after his death.
Background of the Controversy
The controversy erupted after Stella Maris granted an interview to King Mitchy, where she appealed for public support, claiming her children were unable to attend school due to financial hardship. Following this, multiple videos surfaced online accusing Stella of selling Mr Ibu's properties and keeping the proceeds.
Ifeyinwa's Account of Her Marriage
In the interview, Ifeyinwa recounted meeting Mr Ibu when he worked as an electrician in Onitsha. They married on November 19, 1994, and welcomed their only child, Daniel, in 1995. She claimed she raised money to support his acting career when he had very little. However, after he became successful, he began dating other women, including their landlady, and eventually asked Ifeyinwa and their son to move to the village. They never officially divorced.
She stated: "We got married in November 1994, and I had my first son, Daniel, in 1995. He was an electrician in Onitsha when we got married, and he had nothing then. When he started acting, he started dating our landlady, and the woman was giving me a hard time, so he asked me to move with my son to the village. I was the one who trained my son from primary school to secondary school."
Allegations Against Stella Maris
Ifeyinwa claimed she never knew Mr Ibu intended to marry Stella. She alleged Stella had fallen out with her former partner before meeting Mr Ibu. According to Ifeyinwa, Mr Ibu brought Stella home, and soon after she announced her pregnancy. When Mr Ibu fell ill, Ifeyinwa returned from the village, and he told her about properties he had acquired in Lagos, Enugu, and Asaba. She alleged Stella sold all these properties and gave her no share. She also claimed Stella left her to mourn the actor alone after his death.
Public Reaction
Many social media users expressed sympathy for Ifeyinwa. @chinenye.obas wrote: "Omo, Mr Ibu lived a reckless life. I'm disappointed, even though I respect him. This woman shouldn't be in this condition, no matter what." @shammahpericoma said: "But honestly, this woman is a good woman, even as popular as Mr. Ibu, then she no come out drag am ohh not minding say him abandon her with a son omo you be better person." @trendybabiescostume stated: "Men stay in one place, Biko nu. Omo if na little support for her no go bad honestly."
