VDM Condemns Dangote Over Girl's Death in Truck Accident, Demands Accountability
Popular Nigerian activist and social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman, has issued a strong condemnation following the tragic death of a young woman allegedly hit by a truck belonging to Aliko Dangote's company. In an emotional video shared online, VDM called for greater accountability while sending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Elizabeth Obi Chinonye's Tragic Story
Verydarkman revealed that he first encountered the victim, identified as Elizabeth Obi Chinonye, during the period surrounding the demise of BBNaija star Phyna's sister. According to the activist, Elizabeth was admitted to the same hospital where Phyna's sister was receiving treatment, battling for her life after being struck by a Dangote truck.
The Edo State government initially intervened in her case, clearing her medical bills and facilitating her transfer to a hospital in Kaduna for continued treatment. However, despite these efforts, Elizabeth's condition deteriorated over several months of intensive medical care.
Mother's Heartbreaking Account
During his video presentation, Verydarkman read a message written by Elizabeth's grieving mother, who provided devastating details about her daughter's final days. The mother disclosed that Elizabeth collapsed while traveling from Kaduna and was rushed to a hospital where she was admitted to the intensive care unit before ultimately passing away.
The mother attributed the tragic outcome to delays in receiving proper medical treatment and revealed that the family later discovered an Indian hospital could have treated Elizabeth's condition. Unfortunately, they were unable to secure the necessary support to fly her abroad for specialized care.
VDM's Criticism of Systemic Failures
Speaking with visible emotion, Verydarkman described the situation as heartbreaking and lamented what he called a disturbing pattern of young people between ages 20 and 24 losing their lives in truck-related accidents with minimal accountability. He emphasized that Elizabeth's case represents just one of the few incidents that have gained public attention, suggesting there may be numerous other victims whose stories remain untold.
The activist sharply criticized government authorities and regulatory bodies for what he perceives as inadequate responses to frequent loss of lives allegedly linked to reckless driving by truck operators. VDM specifically noted the lack of meaningful intervention from federal agencies and relevant oversight organizations.
Broader Context of Celebrity Activism
This incident marks another instance of Verydarkman using his platform to address social issues involving high-profile figures. Previously, following the death of Phyna's sister, the activist had publicly criticized billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote over incidents linked to his company's operations.
The activist concluded his emotional appeal by praying for the repose of Elizabeth's soul and extending sincere condolences to her mother and entire family. His video has sparked renewed conversations about road safety, corporate responsibility, and the need for stronger regulatory frameworks governing commercial vehicle operations in Nigeria.
