Elder Onoriode Obareki Celebrates Birthday with Generous Donation to Ikot Okoro Hospital
In a heartwarming gesture, Elder Onoriode Obareki, founder of the Obareki Onoriode Foundation, commemorated his birthday by visiting the General Hospital in Ikot Okoro, located in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. During the event, he donated a 5KVA solar power system to address the facility's persistent electricity challenges, which are common in rural healthcare centers.
Enhancing Healthcare Through Stable Electricity
The solar power installation is expected to significantly improve lighting and support essential medical services at the hospital. Elder Obareki, who is also a son-in-law of Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno, emphasized that stable electricity is crucial for effective service delivery in healthcare settings. He stated that this donation reflects his ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and enhancing their well-being.
Officials Applaud Timely Intervention
Dr. Idara Usen, the Medical Superintendent of Ikot Okoro General Hospital, praised the donation as strategic and timely. He highlighted that the solar system will boost service delivery and create better working conditions for hospital staff, ultimately benefiting patient care.
Hon. Sunday Festus Akpan, Chairman of Oruk Anam Local Government Area, who welcomed Elder Obareki alongside health officials, commended the initiative for its impact on residents. He described the gesture as generous and beneficial to the local community.
Complementing Government Efforts
Dr. Ekem John, the Commissioner for Health in Akwa Ibom State, also applauded the donation, noting that it aligns with the state government's efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure. These efforts include the construction of a new maternity block and staff quarters at the hospital, aimed at improving overall healthcare services.
Additional Support for Patients and Community
Beyond the solar power donation, Elder Obareki extended his generosity by providing 150 bags of 5kg rice to patients and members of the host community. He also cleared the medical bills of patients across various wards in the hospital.
Among the beneficiaries were Mrs. Victoria Friday Udoekpo, Chief Peter Ukana, Daniel Isonguyo, and Lady Blessing Usenekong, who delivered a baby via caesarean section, along with several other pregnant women. This comprehensive support underscores Elder Obareki's dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
