BTO Movement Inaugurates Coordinators in Ondo, Sets Ambitious 2027 Target
In a strategic move to bolster grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections, the BTO Unit-to-Unit for Tinubu movement has officially inaugurated ward and unit coordinators across the Akoko North East and Akoko North West Federal Constituencies in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State. The ceremony, held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, attracted prominent political figures and party stakeholders from the Akoko region, marking a significant step in early electoral preparations.
Ambitious Electoral Goals Announced
Addressing the gathering, the movement's Director General, Bankole Mohammed, unveiled an ambitious target: securing no less than 90 per cent of Ondo State's votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all All Progressives Congress candidates in the 2027 general elections. This declaration echoes a similar pledge made during the recent Ondo State governorship election campaign, where Bankole championed the "18 zero" strategy—a clean sweep of all 18 local government areas for the APC, which was widely associated with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa's eventual victory across the state.
Grassroots Strategy and Coordination
Bankole urged the newly inaugurated coordinators to anchor the movement's strategy at the unit level, emphasizing the need to identify party strongholds, map areas of weakness, and prioritize reconciliation with aggrieved party members. He highlighted the importance of building a formidable grassroots network for the APC, stating that unit-level party structures are the backbone of electoral success. "No victory can be achieved without proper organisation from the grassroots," he asserted, calling on Nigerians to sustain support for the Tinubu administration's Renewed Hope Agenda, citing its contributions to the economy, education, infrastructure, and Nigeria's international standing.
Key Figures and Support Acknowledged
Bankole expressed appreciation to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, crediting him with a significant role in supporting and financing the BTO initiative across all nine federal constituencies in Ondo State. He also acknowledged ongoing reforms within the Federal Ministry of Interior, underscoring the movement's alignment with government efforts.
Speaking at the event, Ishola Moshood, a former state treasurer representing stakeholders from Akoko North East, reinforced the critical role of grassroots organisation. He told coordinators that effective unit-level structures are essential for electoral triumph, stressing that meticulous planning and unity are paramount.
Notable Attendees and Growing Unity
The ceremony saw the presence of other notable figures, including Awe Azeez, Ayegbusi Abacha, and Madam Shayos Mother, a prominent women mobiliser in Akoko North East. Organisers viewed her attendance as a reflection of growing unity within APC ranks in the constituency, signaling a cohesive front as the party gears up for the 2027 elections.
This inauguration sets the stage for intensified political activities in Ondo State, with the BTO movement positioning itself as a key player in mobilising support for the APC at the grassroots level, aiming to replicate past successes and achieve its lofty 90 per cent vote target in the upcoming electoral cycle.
