Senator Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindow, former Governor of Adamawa State, has responded to an appeal urging him to rejoin the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The appeal was made by former Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Martins Nasir Babale, during a courtesy visit to Senator Bindow's office in Abuja.
Babale's Appeal and Bindow's Response
Babale specifically requested that Senator Bindow consider returning to the APC. In response, Bindow expressed gratitude for the visit and thanked his former deputy for the concern, goodwill, and confidence shown towards him. However, according to a statement released by Bindow's New Media Aide, Shamsudeen Ibrahim, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, the senator did not comment on his current political position or future political decisions.
Ibrahim stated: "Former Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency Martins Nasir Babale, today paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency, Senator Mohammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow, at his office in Abuja. During the meeting, the former Deputy Governor appealed to Senator Bindow to consider returning to the APC. His Excellency expressed appreciation for the visit and thanked his former deputy for the concern, goodwill, and confidence demonstrated towards him. Senator Bindow, however, did not make any comment regarding his current political position or future political decisions."
Speculation About Bindow's Political Moves
This development follows reports that Senator Bindow had left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and returned to the APC. According to TVC News, Bindow had earlier withdrawn from the 2027 governorship race under the ADC platform, citing personal reasons after deep reflection and careful consideration.
In a related development, 34 House of Assembly aspirants in Katsina State defected from the ADC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections, citing injustice, poor leadership, and lack of opportunities within the ADC. Hon. Ahmad Yusuf Jaguma claimed that the PDP offers a better solution for their political future in Katsina.
Meanwhile, Honourable Aliyu Misau also left the PDP to join the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), citing a leadership crisis within the PDP. This defection follows the recent exits of four lawmakers and a governor from the PDP, further weakening the party's influence.
