The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairmen has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party's presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections and pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation to boost voter registration across the country.
Communique from Inaugural Meeting
The resolution was contained in a communiqué issued after the inaugural meeting of the forum held on Thursday in Abuja and chaired by the Lagos State APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi. The meeting, attended by APC chairmen from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, reviewed party affairs, the outcome of the recently concluded primaries, and national issues affecting the country.
The forum congratulated President Tinubu on emerging as the APC's presidential candidate for the 2027 elections and expressed confidence in his leadership. Members also sympathised with victims of insecurity across the country while commending the President and Commander-in-Chief for ongoing efforts to address security challenges.
Praise for Party Leadership and Candidates
The state chairmen praised the National Chairman and members of the National Working Committee for what they described as the successful and peaceful conduct of the party's primaries nationwide. They also congratulated all candidates who emerged from the APC primaries across the states and the FCT, including governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly candidates.
The forum aligned itself with the Progressive Governors Forum, commending APC governors for their support of the Tinubu administration and their contributions to strengthening the ruling party.
Unity and Grassroots Mobilisation
In a major show of unity, the chairmen unanimously affirmed the leadership of Ojelabi as chairman of the APC State Chairmen Forum and pledged continued cooperation to advance the party's interests across the federation. The forum noted that the APC currently controls 32 governorship seats nationwide and described the growing number of lawmakers joining the party in the National Assembly as evidence of increasing public acceptance.
The chairmen also used the occasion to urge Nigerians, particularly APC supporters, to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 elections. According to the forum, possession of a PVC remains the only means through which citizens can participate in the electoral process, regardless of their political affiliations or support for candidates.
The APC state chairmen resolved to deploy all available structures at the grassroots to encourage eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to do so before the close of the voter registration exercise. They expressed confidence that the party would continue to expand its political reach and consolidate its dominance ahead of the next general election.
