2027: APC Youth Leader Predicts Sweeping Victory for Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader in Oyo State, Olalekan Oladejo, has declared that his party will secure a sweeping victory in the 2027 general elections, covering all positions from the presidency down to local offices. He made the assertion on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, during the inauguration of the Tinubu Touch Bearer (TTB) initiative in Ibadan, Oyo State.

TTB Initiative Aims to Mobilise Women for 2027

The Tinubu Touch Bearer, an initiative backed by Nigeria's First Lady, Remi Tinubu, is designed to galvanise women voters for the upcoming elections. Oladejo, speaking at the event, expressed confidence in the APC's prospects, stating on his Facebook page: “By the grace of God, the APC will secure victory from top to bottom in the coming election.”

Nigeria's general elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, when voters will elect the president, vice president, senators, and House of Representatives members. Governorship and State House of Assembly elections will follow on February 6, 2027. Incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, an APC stalwart, has declared his intention to seek a second term.

Key Presidential Contenders: Tinubu, Atiku, and Obi

Alongside Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi are widely regarded as the leading contenders in the presidential race. Atiku is contesting under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while Obi is the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). In the 2023 election, Obi finished third with 6,101,533 votes as the Labour Party (LP) flagbearer.

In Oyo State, the APC currently serves as the opposition party. Oladejo's prediction comes amid growing political activity as parties gear up for the 2027 polls.

Oshiomhole: Tinubu Will Win Hands Down

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North and a former national chairman of the APC, echoed Oladejo's confidence. In a video interview on The Mic on Podcast released on June 14, 2026, Oshiomhole asserted that the 2027 presidential election will pose no real challenge to Tinubu. He stated: “Everybody knows that things are not perfect. A statesman must provide answers. We haven’t heard specific solutions that he will deploy other than this buzzword ‘do the right thing’. So, Tinubu will win hands down, and these people will not even get the kind of votes they got before (in the 2023 election).”

Oshiomhole strongly criticised Obi, questioning his policy proposals and suggesting that the opposition candidates will fare worse than in the previous election.

Fayose: Divided Opposition Benefits Tinubu

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose also weighed in, predicting that the division between Atiku and Obi—running on separate platforms—will work in Tinubu's favour. Fayose, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), argued that the opposition has weakened its chances by failing to unite under one political party. He said the split will pave the way for Tinubu's re-election.

The 2027 elections are expected to be highly competitive, with the APC, ADC, NDC, and other parties vying for control. As the campaign season intensifies, political leaders continue to make predictions and mobilise support.
