The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his overwhelming victory in the party's presidential primary election held on May 23, 2026. Tinubu secured 161,005 votes across 184 wards in the state, defeating his closest rival Stanley Osifo who polled 1,007 votes.
Abia APC Reaffirms Support for President Tinubu
In a statement issued on Sunday, May 24, 2026, the Abia APC chapter expressed confidence in Tinubu's leadership and his Renewed Hope agenda. The party's spokesperson, Uche Aguoru, said the peaceful conduct and massive turnout during the primaries reflected the trust party members have in the president. The APC pledged full support for Tinubu, expressing optimism about securing a decisive victory in the January 2027 general elections.
The statement also commended the party's leaders, particularly the returning officer for the primaries, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, for ensuring unity and focus in mobilizing members across the state. The APC promised to work tirelessly to ensure Tinubu wins overwhelmingly during the general elections.
President Tinubu Receives Certificate of Return
On the same day, President Tinubu was presented with a certificate of return and the party's flag as the official APC candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The ceremony took place in Abuja, with APC Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda handing over the documents. This formalizes Tinubu's position as the party's flagbearer for the upcoming contest.

Earlier, the Abia APC had celebrated Benjamin Kalu on his 55th birthday, praising his exceptional leadership and dedication to the party's growth and national development. Kalu serves as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and represents the Bende federal constituency.
