Oluwafemi Fadairo, a leading aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency seat in Ondo State, has vowed to drive inclusive development and strengthen grassroots representation if elected in the 2027 general election.
According to Fadairo, his decision to contest was driven by the need to bridge developmental gaps and ensure that all segments of the constituency feel adequately represented. The APC chieftain stated this while being endorsed by the leadership and members of the Non-Indigenes Assembly (NIA) drawn from Ondo State and across the South-West.
Key Priorities Outlined
With the development giving traction to his ambition, Fadairo, who is seeking the party's ticket to represent the constituency in the National Assembly, reeled out his key priorities to include infrastructure development and youth and women empowerment. While also harping on what he described as expanded access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and economic opportunities, he stated that "I am committed to building a constituency where no group feels left out. Development must be inclusive, and representation must reflect the diversity of our people," he said.
Call for Collaboration
Fadairo emphasised the importance of collaboration among stakeholders, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort and people-focused policies. He also appreciated the Non-Indigenes Assembly for endorsing his candidacy, describing the gesture as a reflection of growing confidence in his leadership.
The APC aspirant, who previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement (Central) to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and as Director of Administration in the Senate during the 9th Assembly, highlighted his experience in governance. "I have the political experience and understand the needs of our people. I assure you that I will not disappoint. We will invest in non-indigenes and ensure they have a befitting place for their meetings. You will be carried along in policy decisions and empowerment programmes," he added.
Endorsement by Non-Indigenes Assembly
The President of the Non-Indigenes Assembly, Mr Isaac Okita, who described Fadairo as a bridge-builder capable of uniting residents across ethnic and cultural divides, stated that his track record in public service and grassroots engagement makes him a credible candidate for effective representation in the House of Representatives.
While Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa supports Fadairo's aspiration, Okita described him as the right candidate for the constituency, stressing that "We are non-indigenes, but we thank God that we're making progress as residents here in Akure. Our businesses are thriving and there is peace. When we see something good, we must appreciate it, and it's why we are demanding that a round peg should be put in a round hole this time around."
"The reason is because we have not seen the impact of representation since this 10th Assembly in Akure North and Akure South. This is the right time for Mr Governor to give us a man we can trust. A man we can complain to and would listen. A man that we can reckon with and can elevate the people. A man who can make a difference in this constituency, and it is not any other person than Hon. Fadairo Dennis Oluwafemi. This is the person that we, the non-indigenes in Ondo State and in Akure North and Akure South, want for the seat of the House of Representatives, and it is why we are endorsing his candidacy as our choice," Okita said.
He noted that non-indigenes contribute significantly to the economic and social development of the constituency and should not be excluded from governance, pledging to mobilise support for Fadairo ahead of the APC primaries and the 2027 general election.
