Osun APC Denies Sponsoring Attacks Ahead of Guber Polls

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has distanced itself from the recent violence inflicted on innocent citizens by suspected political thugs. The party has called on security agency heads to curb the rising political violence ahead of the governorship election.

APC Denies Allegations

Oluwole Oke, Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, dismissed Governor Ademola Adeleke's allegations that the party sponsored attacks. Speaking at a media briefing in Osogbo, Oke accused the governor of parading armed thugs and making Osun ungovernable. He urged security agencies to intervene and stop political violence.

Adeleke Accuses Police Commissioner

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has accused the state's Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, of not cooperating with his administration amid growing security concerns ahead of the August 2026 governorship election. The governor made this allegation during a media chat with select journalists.

Abduction of Local Council Vice Chairman

Debo Farounbi, Vice Chairman of Ifedayo Local Council, was abducted by gunmen following an attack on Ora community, a border town along the Osun-Kwara boundary.

Stage Collapse at Rally

There was palpable fear when Governor Adeleke, his sister Modupe Adeleke, and other officials fell after a stage collapsed during his re-election inauguration at Ijebu-Jesa in Ori-Ade Local Council. The collapse caused injuries to some Accord Party members and officials, but the governor's condition remains unknown after security operatives helped him and others out of the ruined stage.
