Tinubu Wins 113,911 Votes in Cross River APC Primary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in Cross River State has ended with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu securing a landslide victory. Governor Bassey Otu, who acted as the state's returning officer and coordinator, announced the results in Calabar on Saturday night.

Vote Breakdown

According to Governor Otu, the state had 121,260 registered voters for the presidential primary. The total number of votes cast was 113,912. President Tinubu received 113,911 votes, while his only challenger, Mr. Stanley Osifo, garnered zero votes.

Official Declaration

Governor Otu emphasized that the final announcement of the overall winner of the primary would be made in Abuja after results from other states are computed. He stated, “As you can see, our work here is done, which is to announce what we had in Cross River. We shall transmit the results to Abuja, where it will be computed with results gotten from other states.”

He also apologized for the delay in announcing the results, attributing it to the state's challenging topography. “We are pleased to announce Cross River result after a hectic day. As you all know, the topography of the State delayed this coalition and subsequent announcement of this result,” he explained.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including the Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Peter Odey; the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Elvert Ayambem; and members of the National Assembly, among others.
