A marketing executive and community development advocate, Oke Umurhohwo, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Delta State House of Assembly seat representing Ughelli North Constituency 2.
Umurhohwo, who currently serves as Marketing Director at StarTimes Nigeria, brings over a decade of professional experience spanning business growth, brand development, and strategic management across multiple sectors. Speaking on his ambition, he emphasized the need for a shift in the style of representation, noting that public office must deliver measurable impact to the people.
“Representation is not about titles. It is about results people can see and feel,” he said.
Beyond his corporate career, Umurhohwo is known for his grassroots engagement and youth-focused initiatives. He is the founder of the Oke Umurhohwo Foundation, which has supported education and community-based projects, and the owner of Ughelli Rovers Football Club, a platform aimed at developing young talents and creating opportunities for youths within the constituency.
Observers say his background in both the private sector and community initiatives positions him as part of a new wave of aspirants seeking to bridge the gap between governance and real-life impact.
Outlining his priorities, Umurhohwo stated that his campaign will focus on accountable leadership, youth empowerment through skills and enterprise support, and practical community development that addresses everyday challenges faced by constituents. He added that his approach would be centered on accessibility and measurable performance, with an emphasis on keeping constituents informed and engaged.
“As someone who understands both the system and the realities on the ground, my goal is to bring structure, accountability, and clear results to representation,” he said.
His declaration comes at a time when political activities are gradually building up ahead of the 2027 general elections, with increased interest in leadership accountability and youth inclusion in governance.
