Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a master politician and a primary influence on his own political career. Yilwatda made these remarks on Saturday, December 28, 2025, shortly after being honoured with a traditional chieftaincy title in Plateau State.
A Title and Tribute to a Mentor
The ceremony took place in the Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, where the APC chieftain was conferred with the title of "Kaeh-rit," which translates to "the good seed of Ampang East." In his address following the event, Yilwatda did not hesitate to credit President Tinubu for his political growth.
"I'm learning from the best leader, Asiwaju Tinubu," Yilwatda stated. He elaborated by calling the President "one of the best politicians you can learn from" and expressed gratitude for being adopted as a political son by Tinubu. "If you see me succeeding, it's because I'm learning from the very best politician ever produced in Nigeria," he declared, vowing to emulate the President's achievements.
Support for Farmers and Unity in Plateau
Aligning his actions with the federal government's agenda, Yilwatda used the occasion to demonstrate practical support for the local community. He announced a donation of ₦10 million, along with seedlings and other critical farm inputs, to farmers in the Kanke LGA. He framed this gesture as supporting President Tinubu's national efforts to enhance food production and combat poverty.
The APC chairman also commented on the recent political shift in the state, referencing Governor Caleb Mutfwang's defection to the APC. Yilwatda emphasized that this move fosters a unified government structure, which he believes will benefit Plateau State significantly.
"The person that comes into the APC today has equal rights with someone who has been there for a thousand years," he asserted, highlighting the party's inclusive philosophy. He explained that this unity would ensure that national budgets and local government structures are aligned, creating a seamless system designed for the people's benefit from the top down.
A Season of Recognition
This event marks the second traditional honour bestowed upon Professor Yilwatda in a short span. It follows closely on the heels of a recent recognition by the Tiv Nation in Benue State, which was awarded for his humanitarian work. These accolades point to his growing influence and recognition across different regions within Nigeria's political landscape.
