Dokubo made this pledge during a visit by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to his palace in Degema, Rivers State.

Dokubo revealed that his relationship with the Nigerian leader is not a recent development but one rooted in history, tracing back to 1992. He emphasized that this bond was formed long before he assumed his current role as a traditional ruler. "I was not a traditional ruler when we met in 1992. I never thought I would ever become what I am today," Dokubo stated, as reported by Vanguard.

He recounted that President Tinubu stood by him during his most challenging times, and now, he feels compelled to return the favour. "He stood by me in my most difficult period, and it is now my turn to also stand by him and also support him," Dokubo affirmed.
