Prince Harry and his family are preparing to return to the United Kingdom next month, according to multiple British media reports. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be accompanied by their two children, Archie, aged seven, and Lilibet, aged five, marking their first trip to the UK as a family in four years. The reports were confirmed by the BBC, the Telegraph, and ITV News.
Background of the Sussexes' Departure
Harry and Meghan, who currently reside in California, left the UK for North America in 2020 after stepping back from their royal duties. They cited several reasons for their departure, including tabloid intrusion, entrenched racism in British institutions, online abuse, complex family dynamics, and a desire for financial independence. These issues were detailed in televised interviews and Harry's memoir.
Previous Visits by Prince Harry
Since leaving the UK, Harry, 41, has made several short trips back. Notably, he attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 and the coronation of his father, King Charles III, in 2023. Most recently, he returned to England in September 2025 for a face-to-face meeting with his father, their first in 19 months. Earlier this year, he also returned for a court appearance related to a lawsuit against the publisher of the Daily Mail over allegations of unlawful information gathering.
Potential Reconciliation with the Royal Family
Harry has previously expressed a desire to reconcile with his family, and his recent meeting with King Charles sparked speculation that the royal rift might be healing. However, it remains unknown whether the King will meet with his grandchildren during the upcoming visit. The last time they saw each other in person was in 2022, during the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Invictus Games Event
The visit coincides with an event marking one year until the start of the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, the biennial sporting competition founded by Harry over a decade ago. Harry has reportedly been assured that adequate security provisions will be in place for the trip.
