Speaker of the House, Honorable Jibrin Ismaila Falgore, disclosed this critical information on Wednesday while presenting the executive bill to the plenary session. Governor Yusuf had transmitted Garo's name to the assembly on Tuesday, nominating him as the preferred candidate for the vacant deputy governor seat. In the letter read aloud by Speaker Falgore, Governor Yusuf emphasized Garo's exemplary character, extensive experience, broad exposure, and consistent support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as his contributions to Kano's development in various capacities.
The nomination aligns with Section 191(3) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended), which grants the Governor the authority to nominate a Deputy Governor when a vacancy exists. Following the reading of the governor's letter, Speaker Falgore announced the constitution of an ad hoc committee tasked with screening the nominee. - Serving as State Organising Secretary of his political party.
- Acting as Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor.
- Being elected as Chairman of Kabo Local Government.
- Holding the position of Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Kano.
- Serving as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
- Running as the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the APC in the 2023 general elections.
