President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, as he marks his 63rd birthday anniversary on January 5, 2026.

In his congratulatory message, President Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for his demonstrated integrity, modesty, and humility, qualities that have defined his approach to public service. The President highlighted the Governor's unwavering commitment to the people of Kano, which is evident in his administration's policies and projects.
Governor Abba Yusuf, popularly known as Abba Gida-Gida, was elected as the Governor of Kano State in 2023 under the banner of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). His political experience includes a previous tenure as the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport in Kano State from 2011 to 2015, serving under the administration of Senator Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso.
Continuing a Legacy of Progressive Politics
President Tinubu affirmed that Governor Yusuf's leadership in Kano, which he described as the bastion of progressive politics in Northern Nigeria, resonates with the enduring commitment to grassroots development and improving the welfare of the common people (Talakawas). This philosophy, the President noted, was championed by the late political icon, Mallam Aminu Kano.
The President specifically pointed to Governor Yusuf's hands-on experience in managing strategic state portfolios as a commissioner, suggesting it prepared him for the ongoing infrastructural transformation in Kano.

President Tinubu cited specific initiatives undertaken by the Yusuf administration that have drawn national attention. "He has embarked on urban renewal programmes, building bridges and road networks, including the five-kilometre roads in each local government in the state," the President remarked.
Furthermore, Tinubu acknowledged the Governor's focus on the education sector. "I also understood that his declaration of emergency in education has engendered a marked improvement in the performance of Kano students in NECO exams," the President stated, recognizing the positive outcomes of this policy.
Concluding his message, President Bola Tinubu wished Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf a long life in good health and more years of his transformative leadership for the benefit of Kano State and its people.
