Operatives of the Idumebo Security Network in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State have apprehended a couple for allegedly plotting to sell a baby belonging to the woman's sister for N3 million.
Suspects Identified
The suspects have been identified as Charity Jacob, a native of Benue State, and her husband, John. The duo was caught in the act following a tip-off received by the security network.
How the Arrest Unfolded
According to a viral video circulating on social media, members of the community security outfit stated that they received intelligence about a couple who were in the process of selling a baby to a potential buyer. Acting swiftly on the information, they stormed the location where the negotiation was taking place and apprehended the suspects.
The security agents revealed that the suspects were negotiating to sell the child for N3 million.
Interrogation Details
During interrogation, Charity Jacob reportedly confessed that the baby she intended to sell belonged to her sister, who was unaware of the scheme. The sister had no idea that her sibling was planning to sell her child.
The security network has handed over the suspects to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution. The baby has been rescued and is safe.
