The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 22-year-old suspected armed robber and cultist, Odeshola Afeez, following numerous complaints about his criminal activities in the state. Afeez was arrested based on intelligence reports indicating that he had been harassing pedestrians and spreading fear within the Lagos community.
Recovery of Weapons and Charms
During a search conducted by police operatives, a locally-made pistol, a cartridge, and local charms were recovered from the suspect. Preliminary investigations have identified Afeez as a notorious cultist who allegedly terrorized residents and engaged in activities that disrupted public peace.
Evading Arrest
Further inquiries revealed that Afeez had been evading law enforcement for some time before his eventual capture by police operatives. The swift and professional response of the officers involved was commended by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai.
Police Commitment to Combating Crime
Commissioner Fatai reiterated the command's unwavering dedication to fighting cultism, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across the state. Niger Police Debunk False School Attack Reports
In a separate development, the Niger State Police Command has refuted what it describes as false and misleading reports claiming that schools in Bosso, Kpakungu, Sabon-Wuse, and Lambata local councils were attacked by hoodlums. The command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that a visit to all the schools mentioned in those areas confirmed that no such attack occurred.
Public Reassurance
Abiodun urged the public to disregard the information as false, suggesting it may have originated from mischief makers aiming to cause panic and fear among the public and within school environments. An investigation has been launched to uncover the source of the report and apprehend those responsible.
School Protection Initiatives
Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Adamu Elleman, had directed divisional police officers to collaborate closely with school administrators, in line with school protection initiatives, to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community.
